It has been agreed that the VH will install a Mesh system which enables users to access the Wi-Fi or the Internet. We are also installing a Cloud System which will replace the CCTV; this will cover all areas of the VH and its surroundings.
Various maintenance issues have arisen which are dealt with as soon as possible. Every year the hall undergoes an annual assessment to identify any possible problems which have arisen or likely to arise and this year it will be done by our chairman. If you note any problems please report to the trustees. The hall is having new external doors with the help of Grants from The Atkinson Foundation, Two Ridings Community Foundation and The Town Council. Funds were also raised from the Beverley Band Christmas Concerts, which were very much enjoyed by all who attended. Please note the date in your diaries for this year’s concert to be held on Friday 28th November.
The small kitchen which is off the main hall has been insulated and plans are in place to provide safety flooring and all new units which will make it a more pleasant room for making your drinks during your sessions.
We now have a Bluetooth Speaker which is available for you to play your own music; we are also considering purchasing a microphone for those who require one for their meetings.
We are considering how to make use of the meeting room which is through the large kitchen. At present it is a cold room as the walls are not insulated and at times can be rather uncomfortable during the winter months. We would still like somewhere to be available for small meetings but there is also the problem of the storage of the chairs which are used for larger functions at present they are in the storeroom off the long corridor.
Have you accessed our new website which gives full details of classes, events and functions does provide a contact form. The committee will be in touch shortly to obtain up to date marketing content to promote your classes. We also have a Facebook page which you can access and engage with. We are happy to promote your classes and events here too. Please help us grow our social media by following our page. Website: wwwelloughtonvillagehall.co.uk Facebook: “Elloughton Village Hall”
Can we remind all users to report any accidents that occur whilst they are in the hall. There is an emergency First Aid Bag in the cupboard above the Microwave in the large kitchen. If you will please inform a member of the committee at the time of the accident and also enter the details in the notebook which is in the First Aid Bag. We can then investigate and if there is a problem in the hall it can then be corrected.
Everyone will be pleased, especially the gentlemen, that we have had a visit from Rentokil, who have done a thorough deep clean of all the toilets in the hall. We do at times have problems with drainage smells, which has now sorted out the problem. Please report any problems to the committee.
This is the first issue of our newsletter informing everybody of what is happening in the running of the village hall and the committee would appreciate any feedback or any items that you would like to be informed about in future editions.
We thank you for continuing to support the Village Hall which was established in 1936 and it is to the credit of all past and present committees that it is available in such good condition for use in 2025.
On behalf of the Elloughton Village Hall Management Committee.
