Village Halls Week 17-23 March 2025

The theme for this years Village Halls Week is celebrating, encouraging and supporting volunteers.

As you may know, Elloughton Village Hall is ran by a team of volunteers who sit on a management committee, but did you know that this has been the way for 90 years? Since the village halls inception the hall has been ran by volunteers for the local community and its residents.

Our trustee Izzy commissioned a brand new display to commemorate Village Halls Week 2025 and spent some time trawling through our archives and taking a journey through our rich history.

Plans for Elloughton Village Hall began in 1935 and we now have enlarged copies of our original building designs and paperwork on display by our main hall doors. A lot has changed since December 1935, but not the dedication of our committees.

Izzy also discovered that Elloughton Village Hall has had professional stage lighting for over 80 years, with a lighting sub-committee existing in 1945!

We encourage all visitors to the hall to take a look and read through our new display and enjoy the glimpse through history that it offers.
